The story of regular virus maker
Everyone is aware of the fact that making a virus is not something morally good. It is considered as an evil task because it is used to destroy the computer files and data. It illegally captures the private information about the computer user. This private information can be the login id and passwords of the email or other online accounts. Sometimes the virus is also able to take hold of the bank accounts and steal the money. The outcomes of the viruses running inside a computer can even be minute or very large. Some viruses only annoy the computer users, some display funny images and some other cause serious destructions. The objectives of the virus can vary but every virus is considered bad. The people who make these viruses are regarded as criminals. If the person or a group of persons is found guilty for making computer virus, the punishment is given to them. Different countries and governments have designed different rules for punishing the virus makers. The extent of these punishments also depends upon the amount of damage produced by a computer virus or worm.
Of course bringing destruction requires power. It is often noted that the designers of the computer viruses feel the sense of power and energy when they do their job. Through the virus they somehow manage to control the other’s computer and therefore they feel to possess the authority. However, they often forget that this authority taken by force is illegal and making viruses is a serious crime.
A worm is somewhat different from an ordinary virus. This is because it has the ability to reproduce. It infects, corrupts or damages the files and these files are then automatically copied thus resulting in the expansion of corrupted data. A worm can also be propagated through emails. Emails are sent to the addresses present in address book without the knowledge of the owner of email ID. This is how the worm is circulated on the internet. There is a story of a person who designed the worm and distributed it on computers through the internet. However, such crimes never go unnoticed and the law enforcers are vigilant enough to find the criminals and give them punishment according to the law.
There was a person aged twenty seven years old who made the virus to destroy the data stored in the computer. The virus was also considered as worm because it not only destroyed the data but it was also capable to expand to itself across other computers through file sharing. It was usually allowed to enter the computer when someone downloaded illegal movies and songs through the internet. Moreover, it also used to change the icons of certain files and applications. It replaced the already placed icons by some funny graphics of octopus. It was found that around twenty thousand computers became the victims of the virus. The virus maker revealed that his deadly design of virus was capable to damage around fifty thousand separate computers.
When he was arrested he explained the weird reason behind making this virus. He declared that he wanted to test his talent of programming by writing an error free and a perfect code of the virus. While the virus was propagated in July 2009, the virus maker was arrested one year later. It was August 2010 when the person was found guilty.
It was unfortunate to know that the virus maker was not found guilty for the first time. He was also arrested earlier in the year 2008 for making another virus but he did not learn the lesson from his first trial. Previously when he was found guilty, he had made the virus that displayed the images of a human on the computer to disturb the people working on that computer.
From this story, it can be concluded that the punishments for the virus makers should be made more severe. Some people are unable to understand the seriousness of the problems involved with the issue of virus making. Therefore after being released, they keep on inventing new and more powerful viruses despite of being caught for the first time. To eliminate this problem completely the laws should be made stricter and the punishments should be harder and should be given for a longer period of time.
