SEO Soft is a complete, free and open source. It collects the positions of your sites in Google based on keywords you set. You can also track multiple sites (up 20) and pair your Google Analytics.

This software is very easy to configure, enter your url and keywords and you’re done! So if you do not want to pay, if you need to monitor your positions on a daily basis, that is the software you need

Note that a new version, still free, should be released during 2012.

Download SOEsoft

A FREE AUDIT FOR WEBSITE
A website is much appreciated by its technical quality and in content. Its durability and its performance directly derived from the way it was designed and built.
During a design phase and by mode of development chosen, we often forget the basics (presence of tags, optimization of title, etc.). These small mistakes can be costly, so be it, today there are online tools to check a few simple but vital, I mean free audit.

The major audits of a technical audit:
Compliance with standards and accessibility guidelines
- Browser compatibility and scalability
- Quality of source code and the merits of the technologies used
- Length and presence of tags
- Proper functioning and visibility links
- Time loading pages and images

Of course the audit is not everything, but it’s a good call to order, so why not use it?

The one I prefer and I recommend it Woorank, it is rapid and complete, the information is relevant and it even allows you to get your complete report in PDF format via email.

Then Atypirank, it is slower but provides additional information (keyword density), most players will have fun comparing their results with other sites submitted.

And you, what tools do you use to audit?

I met a man when I was on holiday and when I told him I worked for a voucher codes website, he turned his nose up at me. He said that the reason for his snarl was that he completely disagreed with how much the internet is starting to take over our lives. He valued real interaction, supporting high street retailers and didn’t rate any of this internet shopping business. I didn’t disagree with his points entirely, I do think it’s a wrong to use the internet as the place we play out our entire lives, but I think this man had sadly missed all the amazing and valuable things that the internet has brought with it.

For starters, I think social sites such as Facebook and Twitter that he held in such low regard certainly have their value. I argued that I found it a very useful way of keeping in touch with old friends who have moved away and I no longer visit due to many other commitments. I love to be able to continue to hear their news and be a part of their lives. In a world without the internet, I fear the letters would have become fewer and further between, until eventually we lost contact and I wouldn’t have experienced the joy that they continue to bring to my life through their occasional characteristic quips and photos of family days out. In addition, I think it is important that these websites have enabled shy people to finally have a voice in society, where in real life social situations they would spend their lives being the silent one in the background, afraid to speak. In fact, the internet allows everyone to have an outlet for their thoughts. With the many blogs, the facility provided by websites to allow people to comment on topics and add their own articles, opinions are voiced and reach a wider audience. This allows them to share and connect with like minded people so a network can be formed.

Regarding internet shopping, I don’t want the high street to disappear. I love mooching round the shops – it’s one of my favourite pastimes – particularly as I work on the computer all day. I admit, I booked a Christmas shopping trip to Manchester with my sister and had a fabulous day wondering round the shops, restaurants and bars. I wouldn’t want that to become a thing of the past as the internet takes over. I think it’s important for us to support local and high street retailers, but we have to be realistic. These are times of austerity, to say the least. The overheads that shops incur as a result of being in town are phenomenal. The leasing and maintenance of premises, staff costs and utility bills make selling through shops a very expensive way of selling. This cost is of course passed on to the consumer in the price of the goods that are sold. For a treat, to have a trip around the shops on my day off is a luxury, but I can’t afford to spend money this way all of the time.

Shops have of course cottoned on to the fact that the costs for providing goods on the internet are no where near those incurred in physical premises. This means that they can pass on discounts to the happy internet customer. That’s where we come in with our UK voucher codes website, collating and advertising the discounts that stores are able to pass on. Plus with the ability to easily shop around and find the best deals, something that is not really as easy to do by going out to the shops, we can make our money go much further.

My final point to the man, who was by now starting to pay attention to my stance, was that the internet had been a godsend to people like my Gran. As she got older and began to have problems with her health, my Gran took to learning as much as she could about computers to enable her to keep contact with the outside world. She was particularly thrilled that she could continue to satisfy her clothes shopping urges by browsing her favourite stores online and getting things delivered to her door. She also found Tesco delivery invaluable and would have struggled to get her basic food if it hadn’t been for the ability to do this through the internet.

I concluded that while people should ensure they keep in touch with the world outside of the internet and not let it dominate their lives, the value of the internet is limitless. It has opened up so many opportunities and possibilities and continues to help so many people in so many ways. It is definitely a good thing in my opinion… and do you know, I think I changed his mind.

Guest Author Byline: This post brought to you by guest blogger Linda Firth who works for Love My Vouchers, the home of UK voucher codes and deals and enjoys blogging about online services.

If you are a frequent user of Internet, there is a big chance that your computer will be infected with a virus. These viruses can infect your computer every time you download applications, programs, videos and music from the Internet. The best way to protect your computer is through installing a good anti-virus. However, you must have to get some ideas of the most widespread viruses on computers.

1. Encrypted Viruses – Considered as the most difficult to detect and to stop. It can be downloaded accidentally without your knowledge and can infect your computer instantly. It uses unusual form of encryption and decrypts itself for worse cases.
2. Secret Viruses – This kind of virus can change the files on your computer and it can even replace them. There are advanced anti-virus that can help stop virus before it can damage your computer.
3. Time Delay Viruses – This kind of virus does not immediately cause harm on your computer. Instead, it works by slowly infecting your files one at a time. You may not have noticed the virus instantly the minute you have downloaded them since they wait before they infect. It is best that you should run an anti-virus weekly to prevent virus from penetrating into your computer.
4. The Anti-Virus Virus – You should be aware that there are viruses that infect the anti-virus installed on your computer. The virus works by disabling the anti-virus so that viruses can still be downloaded on your computer.
5. The Multi-Headed Virus – Considered as the most despicable form of bug in the Internet. The virus can attach into your .exe files and also affect the booting system that makes you download them every time you start up your computer.
6. The Misdirection Virus – This virus can be scary for your computer because it has a built in subprogram that gives false readings to your anti-virus software.
7. A Cloning Virus – This virus duplicates all your .exe files. Once you click the file, you are not actually clicking the file but clicking the file that has been infected.
8. The Author Virus – The virus search for .exe file and deletes it. It will then alter the code to change the program.
9. The Bad Penny Virus – A bug that involuntarily passes itself to the Internet or those who are working online.
10. Rewriting Virus – A kind of virus that automatically rewrites all your files on your computer. It also fills up all the hard disk drives with lots of invisible and unnecessary files.

Computer virus can penetrate into your computer depending on the type of virus. Actually, viruses have its own specific features and have a unique way in infecting the computer system. These viruses can cause harm and can even damage the entire system if there is no prevention taken for your computer.

Since virus can infect your computer, you must have to know the different types of viruses. Getting to know them will help you on how to get rid of them and on how to best protect your computer. Aside from this, since there are too many viruses lurking in the Internet nowadays, you must know the symptoms and must know how to diagnose each virus that will infect your computer. Here are some of the most common type of computer viruses to help you identify.

Trojan Horses – These viruses are good in disguising themselves as precious and functional software available on the Internet. The Trojan Horse can infect your computer in a number of ways. The most common means of infecting into the computer is through attaching itself to emails. There are developers of the virus who use spamming schemes just to spread the virus to gullible users. Furthermore, the Trojan Horse is spread through chat software such as Yahoo Messenger and Skype. To avoid this virus to infect your computer, you must have a good anti-virus to best protect your computer.

Worms – These are programs that replicate, operate separately and travel across online connections. These worms are capable of damaging and destroying all the vital files on your computer system. In addition, these worms can even stop critical programs in performing its operation. To protect your computer from computer worms, you must have to install anti-virus and keep it updated. You must have to scan your computer with the anti-virus in a weekly basis so that worms will be totally eradicated from your system.

Here are some of the precautions that you can take to protect your computer from viruses.

Since emails are used to spread the virus, you must have to avoid unknown and unfamiliar attachments on your computer.

Install a good anti-virus on your computer. Be sure that once installed, you must have to scan your computer regularly particularly in all the hard disk drives on your computer system.

To achieve optimum protection for your computer, you should update your anti-virus to best eradicate all the worms. Anti-virus are best tools in getting rid of unwanted viruses that can infect your computer.

Everyone is aware of the fact that making a virus is not something morally good. It is considered as an evil task because it is used to destroy the computer files and data. It illegally captures the private information about the computer user. This private information can be the login id and passwords of the email or other online accounts. Sometimes the virus is also able to take hold of the bank accounts and steal the money. The outcomes of the viruses running inside a computer can even be minute or very large. Some viruses only annoy the computer users, some display funny images and some other cause serious destructions. The objectives of the virus can vary but every virus is considered bad. The people who make these viruses are regarded as criminals. If the person or a group of persons is found guilty for making computer virus, the punishment is given to them. Different countries and governments have designed different rules for punishing the virus makers. The extent of these punishments also depends upon the amount of damage produced by a computer virus or worm.

Of course bringing destruction requires power. It is often noted that the designers of the computer viruses feel the sense of power and energy when they do their job. Through the virus they somehow manage to control the other’s computer and therefore they feel to possess the authority. However, they often forget that this authority taken by force is illegal and making viruses is a serious crime.

A worm is somewhat different from an ordinary virus. This is because it has the ability to reproduce. It infects, corrupts or damages the files and these files are then automatically copied thus resulting in the expansion of corrupted data. A worm can also be propagated through emails. Emails are sent to the addresses present in address book without the knowledge of the owner of email ID. This is how the worm is circulated on the internet. There is a story of a person who designed the worm and distributed it on computers through the internet. However, such crimes never go unnoticed and the law enforcers are vigilant enough to find the criminals and give them punishment according to the law.

There was a person aged twenty seven years old who made the virus to destroy the data stored in the computer. The virus was also considered as worm because it not only destroyed the data but it was also capable to expand to itself across other computers through file sharing. It was usually allowed to enter the computer when someone downloaded illegal movies and songs through the internet. Moreover, it also used to change the icons of certain files and applications. It replaced the already placed icons by some funny graphics of octopus. It was found that around twenty thousand computers became the victims of the virus. The virus maker revealed that his deadly design of virus was capable to damage around fifty thousand separate computers.

When he was arrested he explained the weird reason behind making this virus. He declared that he wanted to test his talent of programming by writing an error free and a perfect code of the virus. While the virus was propagated in July 2009, the virus maker was arrested one year later. It was August 2010 when the person was found guilty.

It was unfortunate to know that the virus maker was not found guilty for the first time. He was also arrested earlier in the year 2008 for making another virus but he did not learn the lesson from his first trial. Previously when he was found guilty, he had made the virus that displayed the images of a human on the computer to disturb the people working on that computer.

From this story, it can be concluded that the punishments for the virus makers should be made more severe. Some people are unable to understand the seriousness of the problems involved with the issue of virus making. Therefore after being released, they keep on inventing new and more powerful viruses despite of being caught for the first time. To eliminate this problem completely the laws should be made stricter and the punishments should be harder and should be given for a longer period of time.

Computer virus is a new term and this term is introduced in the last few years but the real history of computer virus is based on the complications and problems which have been faced throughout the years. The history of computer viruses is very long. There was a theory named complicated automata which was introduced in 1949 by a professional lecturer of a highly recognized university. This theory was later again introduced in different format in 1970s. According to this theory, computer has the ability to perform some tasks repeatedly. This theory explained the impact of viruses and their effects on computers when they have the ability to perform specified tasks again and again.

The very first virus which was being introduced in computers was named as creeper. This virus was the very first computer related virus and it was detected on ARPANET. This virus was using ARPANET to damage a special computer named as PDP-10. This computer was based on a unique operating system which was known as TENEX. The virus was able to generate a systematic message for remote access through ARPANET. The message which was displayed on the screen was I am creeper and if you have the ability to catch me then catch. It was a strange virus and this virus was killed with another program which was later named as reappear. The very first single computer virus was detected in a computer which was using operating system named Apple DOS 3.3.

The very first single computer virus was named as ELK CLONER. This virus was spread with the help of a regular floppy disk and it displayed ‘personality’ visuals on the screen. It was an auto virus which had the ability to run with out the orders of computer. This was such a strange kind of a virus and this virus also showed a small poem on the screen. The very first boot virus was created in Lahore Pakistan in the end of 1986. This virus was able to deter piracy of a unique program which was written by the users of this boot virus. Removable media and floppy disks were the only way to generate virus and transfer them from one location to another in the 80s. There was no other prominent source of transferring virus from one computer to another.
